Release day for Kozmotron and Lost In Kiev

Kozmotron • Beyond Event Horizon [2xLP]

If you ever looked up to the night sky (even just once) and wondered about the vastness of space then this album is for you. This record is for those who as kids remember looking at the starry night sky and stare in awe at the multitude of stars and planets hanging high. It goes out to those who make a wish upon a shooting star, and for those who would jump at the chance to board a spaceship and be shot into space. Ladies and gentleman, space cowboys, Jedis and aliens: we proudly present you Beyond Event Horizon.

We invite you on a kosmic exploration, as Kozmotron’s newest space epic is a mind-bending album that will take you a journey across the galaxy! Kozmotron is a Belgian force of nature that defies classification and genre labels. It is music at its purest form, a desire for experimentation and self-discovery, a constant strive for evolution and inner-search. On their latest epic, Kozmotron explore the vastness of both the musical and human universes, and take us alongside for the ride. And if you watched even one space adventure movie or read any sci-fi then you already that some excepted turn is lying in wait for you, ready to throw you off course and into boundless infinity! How wildly unpredictable things can turn in space, Beyond Event Horizon is just as wild and unpredictable, impossible to define musically, but for unique, eclectic, fun, epic.

The opening track “Roadkill On the Milky Way” should already give you an idea of what’s in for. With its rolling drums, the punching bass, screaming sax and six-stringed extravagance, the song lays out the plan for the get-go; this is not a journey for the faint-hearted, but a grand saga across time and space. Beyond Even Horizon is filled with jazzy madness, unexpected twists and turns and nods and winks at the great space stuff we all love. Here’s a guitar passage reminding you of Jet and Spike’s crazy adventures on the Bebop (“O’Sidarta”), there’s a sax solo transporting you straight into Jabba the Hutt’s crummy spacebar (“Kat Man Doo”), the whole album plays with such effervescence that is impossible not to love it! For us it was love at first listen, and we’re sure so it’ll be for you, as if you ever watched masterpieces like “2001” and “Interstellar” then this album will transport you on a similar kind of epic space journey. Beyond Event Horizon spans decades of musical influences in just 45 minutes, combining seemingly contrasting styles like jazz, soul, prog, stoner and sludge, even reggae (!) into one beautiful supernova of musical grandiosity.

So fasten your seatbelts and brace yourself for a voyage like no other! This one is for the stargazers, for the wanderers and the alienated, for the (space) adventurers and the (cosmic) travellers. It is for music lovers alike, for all those who really look at the moon while the finger is pointing to it. Support your Local Alien Underground and pick up a copy today!

Lost in Kiev • Motions X [LP]

Post-rock is cinematic by definition, a genre so often focused on suspenseful build-ups, transporting atmosphere, and bombastic climaxes naturally borrows itself to film and docu scores. Some bands however, take this intrinsic value and develop it further, fleshing out a real soundtrack to an imaginary movie, scoring fanciful sights and images with the same vivid tangibility of reality. Lost in Kiev’s debut album Motions, it’s just that, an evocatively powerful soundtrack to a windingly epic journey. Released in 2012 (and reissued on vinyl the following year), Motions is as grand today as it was upon release, already hinting of greater things to come for the band, and the European scene. Motions is essentially a soundtrack, an album skilfully designed to transport the listener to a world of their own, to tap into our imagination and conjure up real images before our eyes. Lost in Kiev simply provide the score, the rest is up to us to fill.
The strongpoint of this album, is in how by leaving space and room for interpretation, the band makes us listeners masters of our own make-believe, and the freedom to replay the adventure countless times, changing how things pan out at will. As the band cunningly says “[Motions is] inspired by numerous, short and long time travels we all have made. We have juggled with various styles, from melancholic post rock to heavy post hardcore and some epic metal”, Motions is the soundtrack of a movie where everyone should decide whether he should stay or go”, an aspiring cue to get you started, the rest is fully up to you. So let it transport you however it might be and embrace the journey.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of this epic release, dunk!records is proud to present, in collaboration with Voice of the Unheard Records, a special repress of the album, with reworked artwork, featuring gold foil and UV spot varnish details, and a brand-new variant designed in close collaboration with the band.
